Meet the Midwife

Jaime Doty, RM, CPM, MSM, CLC

Hello! I’m Jaime Doty, a licensed and graduate-level trained midwife caring for families on the Western Slope.

Before I found my way to Colorado, I was born and raised in a small Nebraska village of 300 people, surrounded by cornfields and cattle. I spent my whole life knowing I had a deep passion for finding the answers to the questions adults were always too hesitant to answer for me. I spent many hours in bookstores looking at textbook pictures of anatomy and finding myself in awe of the female reproductive system. When I first heard the word midwife in high school, the lights turned on for me and I knew in that moment, I found the purpose I had been searching for.

I started my career as an Early Childhood teacher and spent the majority of my time with kiddos under the age of 4. Though I loved the curiosity and energy of toddlers, I knew my true purpose was in birth work. As a student midwife at Bastyr University’s Master of Science in Midwifery program, I attended over 100 births apprenticing at a small rural practice in Wenatchee, WA, and at the busy Puget Sound Birth Center in Kirkland, WA.

After my graduation in June 2019, I passed the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) exam to receive my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) credential. I am also a licensed RM (Registered Midwife) in the state of Colorado.  As part of my licensing and credentialing, I keep my CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certifications up to date. I also hold my medication, IV, and suturing authority with my license in the state of Colorado.

I also received my CLC (Certified Lactation Counselor) in 2022 to further expand lactation support! I am passionate about helping all families in their lactation journey.

Being a midwife is my heart and soul’s work, and each day I’m honored to walk alongside the families in my care as they embark on this incredible journey into parenthood. It has long been a goal of mine to bring midwifery to rural communities that lack sufficient maternal and infant healthcare. After 5 years in Colorado, it continues to be my joy and privilege to serve the Western Slope communities. I have attended over 50 births here in Colorado and hope to continue to watch more families thrive in midwifery care!
